Regardless of the genre of an erotic novel, such as paranormal, suspense or contemporary, hot believable passion is imperative for romance readers. Words in a book like seduction, orgasm and foreplay can put most readers in a sexy mood pretty fast.
Romance authors learn early in their career that love scenes need to last for pages, not a couple of paragraphs. A writer must combine words, feelings of the characters and descriptions in such a manner that will involve the romance reader completely. Books that have page after page of sex don't always hit the mark for most readers of romance. There must be a building of tension between lovers, a slow ride toward an erotic encounter, where both parties are satisfied as well as the reader.
Romance readers are sophisticated, more daring than past 1970's "Harlequin" readers where the bedroom door was closed during sex. Publishers today are pushing the limits with menage, BDSM and bondage themes. There are many kinds of romance readers with different tastes in novels. Online and in bookstores, books are marked with warning labels for the sexual content of the romance.
I write in various heat levels from erotic to sensual. Read a full first chapter of any of my novels on the excerpts page to get a feel for the characters. I've always believed that real people can have great imaginative sex, so that's what I write! Enjoy.
Hello Readers,
I enjoy writing thrillers, paranormal and suspense romances in various heat levels. For years, I wrote newspaper columns, articles in scientific journals and short stories for magazines, until I became a full-time author of fiction. I rarely go very far without my laptop and you could easily find me writing romance novels at two in the morning.
I break up my day answering email, doing interviews, writing and interacting with romance readers. I'm thrilled that reviewers have given my work such critical acclaim. Every day, I'm a better writer, editor of my own work and promoter. I really enjoy being a published author and hope you'll give some of my work a chance to impress you.
I live in a refurbished Victorian Home in Grays Harbor, Washington with my scruffy terrier, Reilly.
